File name | KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICE OF BREAST SELF EXAMINATION AMONG HEALTH CARE WORKERS AT MAHATMA GHANDI COMMUNITY CLINIC IN KABWE, ZAMBIA |
File Description | Breast cancer is the most common cancer occurring in women
and is the second most common cancer generally. In Zambia, breast cancer is the
second most common cancer in women after cervical cancer both in morbidity and
mortality. The country in general faces a huge problem of diagnosing breast
cancer in late stages when treatment is almost impossible. Emphasis is thus
placed on early detection of breast cancer through screening tests such as
clinical breast examination, breast self-examination and mammography with
mammography being the most reliable of these. Unfortunately, cost and limited
number of sites offering mammography hampers early diagnosis using this tool
making clinical exam and BSE as cheaper alternatives. This survey was done to
assess the knowledge and practice of BSE among the health care workers at MGC
