File Description | Cervical
cancer occurs when abnormal cells on the cervix grow out of control. Cancer is characterized
by excessive, uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells which invade and destroy other
tissues. Cervical cancer is found through a pap test. It is one of the most
common cancers in women. Most
cervical cancer is caused by a virus called Human papilloma virus or HPV
through sexual contact with someone who has it. A Pap smear can find changes in
cervical cells before they turn into cancer, and if these cell changes are
treated, cervical cancer can be prevented. |
